Introduction
Buchan Offshore Wind Limited (the Applicant) is seeking consent to develop the Buchan Offshore Wind Project. The offshore element of the project will be located approximately 75 km at its closest point off the Aberdeenshire coast, northeast of Fraserburgh in the outer Moray Firth with a total area of 330 km2.
The Onshore element consists of electrical transmission infrastructure including a cable landfall on the Aberdeenshire coast near Rattray Head and an underground cable route which will extend around 20 km south to the project substation on a site close to the existing Peterhead Substation.
The Applicant has submitted an offshore application for consent under section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989; and marine licenses under the Marine (Scotland) Act 2010 and Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009, and an Onshore Application under the Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1997.
